ABDC Week 7

31 07 2008

Hard to believe…already the 7th week but here goes:

  • Lil’ Mama should not be giving life advice.  She really should not be talking.  She shouldn’t be on this show.  She’s 17 years old.  Why is she giving advice to anyone.
  • With that said, I liked this Missy Elliott challenge.  She makes music to dance to and she always has a dance-oriented video.  And she dances herself.  Perfect artist to do one of these with.
  • At least America was right this week.  They got the right two at the bottom (though Fanny Pak sent a HUGE message).
  • I really like the camaraderie between all the groups this season.  There’s a lot of love going on and I enjoy it.  Nice to see the Boogie Bots giving a shout out to Supreme Soul during their little video by wearing their stuff.  Too bad they weren’t very Supreme Soul-like on the stage.
  • I was really bitter when I saw their performance.  Because it just validated what Lil’ Mama said (still shouldn’t have been said though).  I was expecting them to really kill it this week but their performance was horrible.  Straight up.  Just pathetic.  But they were graceful and respectful (just like they’ve been all season) even in defeat.  Maybe Lil’ Mama can learn a little something from THEM.
  • I am still waiting for Supreme Soul to perform.
  • I hope they picked next week’s episode to be an 80’s theme before they realized Fanny Pak would be in the final three because they have a huge advantage for obvious reasons.  Because now it seems like MTV wants a Super Cr3w vs Fanny Pak final as it would be the ultimate clash in styles and interesting to see.  The Jabbawockeez would smash them both though.
  • I’m still trying to figure out what was South African about Fanny Pak’s performance.

THE FINAL THREE:

  1. Fanny Pak – I mean.  I hate to say it.  But they were the best crew tonight.  By far.  They moved away from those stupid shock moments (well except being afraid of Super Cr3w but that was clever) and just focused on their show.  Their performance definitely went with the song and the whole theme worked.  Missy’s songs and videos are always way out there and Fanny Pak’s performance was out there.  Their attention to detail with the costumes, theme, dancing, props, etc. was great and they brought it all together for the final performance.  Superb job.
  2. Super Cr3w – They had a great performance BUT I didn’t like it as much as the judges did.  I’m probably just nitpicking but I thought there could’ve been some more tricks.  Yeah.  Probably nitpicking but after watching Fanny Pak they definitely should’ve added some tricks.
  3. SoReal Cru – Again.  Very together.  They all performed as a unit.  It really looked like they were all together.  Nothing blew me away though.  The intro was nice and creative but they gotta be more exciting to win it all.

Your obsession w/ Lil Mama is startling. You must secretly love her to spend so much time critiquing her. ALL four of the judges tonight said that the Boogie Bots were really bad. Shane even questioned why they’re on the show and called them TERRIBLE and said he wasn’t mad at Lil Mama for her comment as it was without a doubt, the truest statement ever made! Missy said if that’s the way they danced for her, there would be problems. But because Lil Mama is the most outspoken and noticeable of the judges, you feel the need to attack her. You probably don’t know anything about what true street dancing is. People who do don’t think anything of judges being harsh because that’s how hip hop dancing is. It originated in the streets and people are not expected to hold your hand. Get over yourself and you should wear your Lil Mama STAN badge w/ pride!

Boogie Bots changed their routine at the last minute because they felt what they originally choreographed wasn’t them, but what the judges wanted. They decided they weren’t dancing for the judges, but for everyone else. I think that in doing this, they knew they were going home. I agree it wasn’t the best, but I’m proud they decided to stay true to themselves.

To be honest, I didn’t expect them to win at all. I was just upset to hear they’d been picked apart with no constructive feedback or anything. =\

first of all, jb, lebron is right about everything he’s said about Lil’ Mama…she sucks as a judge and is barely a low-grade hip-hop star in reality.

second, lebron, it’s amazing how i don’t even read your review until after i’ve written mine (i have to watch the show on DVR cuz i get out of work late) but we say so many of the same things…this week, it’s our thoughts on what the final episode will be and why. also, i agree about waiting for SS to perform…i couldn’t even bring that up because I was so disappointed in Boogie Bots being there this week and them not (especially after such a WEAK Booogie Bots routine)

is the fact that this is getting easier to call scary?

Sorry JB, I have to agree with Lebron as well. Ask the majority of the ABDC viewers and they will all agree that Lil’ Mama needs to go. Her advice, critique, comments are horrible. I don’t care if she’s from the “streets”. Judges are there to give constructive criticism and input, not sound retarded. “Ya kilt it. Ya hard. Ya did ya thing” – thanks for the great feedback lil mama.

I definitely agree with your post, Lil Mama is insane. Very insightful about the show, I’m going for Super Crew.
